Making an encore appearance in downtown San Francisco Saturday, the Carson High School Blue Thunder Marching Band rocked the crowd in the 2019 Year of the Pig Chinese New Year Parade.
The award-winning marching band from Carson City was selected for the second straight year to participate in San Francisco’s annual Chinese Year New Parade. Blue Thunder was one of more than 100 entries this year in the televised event.
In 2018, the band’s first year at the parade, Blue Thunder was awarded second place its division.
Blue Thunder needed to raise about $18,000 — mostly for bus transportation — in order to participate in the Chinese New Year Parade.
