The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno reports that continued precipitation is forecast throughout the day along the U.S. Highway 395 corridor.
A rain and snow mix is forecast in the lower valleys of Northwestern Nevada, including Carson City, the NWS reports. This is expected to limit snow accumulations, while foothill locations above 5,000 feet and around Virginia City could see a few inches of snow accumulate mainly on unpaved surfaces through Tuesday evening.
A more significant hazard may be wet pavement, the NWS reports, freezing overnight as temperatures drop further, with a light coating of snow covering the ice.
Area motorists are advised to drive with caution on the Wednesday morning commute.
