November 09, 1928 – February 1, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Victoria McComb, 96, of Carson City, Nevada, announces that she passed away peacefully in Florida on February 1, 2025, at the hospital with her loving son, Steven, and daughter-in-law, Lyn by her side.

Born on November 09, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, Irene was the daughter of Mike and Victoria Malkiewicz. She attended high school and college in Chicago. She worked as a candy striper, a soda jerk, a See’s Candy saleslady, a dental assistant and for Zenith TV. She married the love of her life, James (Jim) Ellsworth McComb, on September 3, 1950. They moved to San Mateo, California, where they started their family, before settling in Carson City, Nevada in 1971.

Irene was a devoted St. Paul’s Lutheran Family Church member and an active participant in the ELCA group. She worked part-time for American Greetings.

Irene and Jim shared a love for family, friends, dancing, and cruising. While attending the 2007 “Senior-Senior Prom,” they were chosen to be the Prom King and Queen. Their loving marriage spanned 61 years until Jim’s passing in 2012.

Irene enjoyed traveling with Frontier Travel Club and spent her evenings dining and playing the slot machines at the Carson Nugget.

After relocating to Florida, Irene appreciated having a Walt Disney World Annual Pass and going to the parks with her family. She was also delighted by eating out, mani-pedis, movies, Legoland, aquariums, the Chocolate Factory, museums, and many family get-togethers.

Irene is survived by her beloved children, Steven (Lyn) and Gail; her cherished grandchildren, Calvin (Jessica), Jennifer (Dan), Lora (Valentin), and David (Alyssa); and her adored great-granddaughters, Zianna, Brea, Bella, Isabella, and Sofia. We were all blessed to have Irene in our family.

Per Irene’s wishes, no public memorial service will be held. Instead of services, thoughts and prayers in remembrance of her beautiful life are greatly appreciated.
