A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday for felony suspicion of hit and run causing injury to the victim, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Taken into custody at 6:15 p.m. was Forrest Crooks-Burrows. A second man was also arrested for obstructing an officer after he attempted to cover for the suspect, telling officers he was driving the pickup involved in the hit and run crash.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to a hit and run crash in which the victim suffered back and neck injuries. The driver advised that a gray pickup crashed into them and left the scene.
As deputies were arriving on scene dispatch advised the agency was contacted by OnStar which advised the suspect vehicle was a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado and was in the 500 block of Jeanell Drive.
The security alarm service advised that learned of airbag deployment in the vehicle and provided dispatch with registration information. That information was checked by dispatch and returned to the suspect, Crooks-Burrows.
A sheriff’s office sergeant arrived on scene and interviewed two men, including the suspect, who advised he was driving the pickup in the crash.
He stated he was hit by the vehicle, which left the scene. The suspect showed signs that he had been drinking. He told the officer he did not know what to do so he left the scene. In the interview with the other suspect, also 22, he told officers he was driving the pickup. He was later arrested for a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.
Later the primary suspect told a deputy investigating that he didn’t want to talk unless his lawyer was present, the arrest report states. A third man, who said he was a roommate with Crooks-Burrows, was interviewed. He said he was told by Crooks-Burrows that he was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene and that he was talking with OnStar, the arrest report states.
Crooks-Burrows was taken into custody for suspicion of felony hit and run causing injury. The arresting deputy said while the suspect was in the vehicle, there was a very strong odor of alcohol coming from the man. He was taken to jail and during the booking process told the officer he was the one driving the Chevrolet. Bail: $5,000.

— A 51-year-old Carson City man, Edward Paul Lazar, was arrested Tuesday, 1:29 p.m. int eh area of Canyon Drive for a felony warrant alleging elder abuse causing substantial mental harm. No other information was available. Bail: $25,000.
— A 24-year-old Silver Springs man, Dallas Dean Ott, was arrested Tuesday, 1:44 a.m. for a felony probation violation, and misdemeanor reckless driving. The man was stopped for driving through a parking lot at a high rate of speed. It was learned he was on supervision through the Department of Parole and Probation with a condition to not be out past curfew. Parole and Probation was contacted and they advised he be arrested for being in violation of conditions. He’s being held without bail pending a hearing.
— A 42-year-old Carson City woman, Brandilee May Parkins, was booked into jail Tuesday, 9:30 a.m. for a felony warrant for violation of parole and probation orders. According to the arrest report, the woman arrived at jail, turning herself in to complete six days ordered by Carson Regional Drug Court. During the booking process she provided a preliminary breath sample with a result of .109. Parole and Probation was contacted. The agency advised to not release the woman after her six days were up, instead she will report to the judge for a bail hearing.
— A 38-year-old Reno man was booked Tuesday into Carson City Jail for three misdemeanor contempt of court warrants, two issued in November 2015 for failure to appear and one in December 2015, failure to provide proof of community service and substance abuse counseling. Bail: $11,000.
— A 25-year-old Carson City woman as arrested Tuesday, 12:45 p.m. for a misdemeanor failure to appear traffic warrant. Bail: $250.
— A 37-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested Monday, 3:30 p.m. for a misdemeanor warrant alleging property destruction, issued Feb. 2, 2017 out of Eastfork Township Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday, 5 p.m. in the 1600 block of Long Street for misdemeanor suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia, and two misdemeanor bail condition warrants issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $$7,137.
