On Tuesday, visitors to the Nevada State Museum sat in the front row of history to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint. Just as it did 150 years ago, the Mint’s Coin Press No. 1 pressed silver coins, complete with the famous “CC” mint mark.

U.S. Mint Director David Ryder joined Gov. Steve Sisolak, U.S. Rep. Mark Amodei, Carson City Mayor Bob Crowell and other state officials at the museum, which has occupied the original mint building since 1941.
