Chris Orr is Senior Producer of PBS Reno’s Wild Nevada program.

Chris Orr, Senior Producer of PBS Reno’s Wild Nevada program will share behind-the-scenes stories from her two decades of exploring the Silver State with Leisure Hour Club members at their monthly dinner meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19.

Orr is producer and host of the award-earning local PBS travel-adventure series that takes viewers throughout the Silver State discovering the unique people, hidden history, and breathtaking landscapes that define Nevada.

In November 2024, PBS Reno’s Chris Orr moved into the role of Senior Producer to oversee the preproduction, filming, and postproduction of Wild Nevada, while also serving as host. Orr has been part of Wild Nevada since it first began in 2000.

Since then, the series has resulted in more than over 75 episodes, a 2014 special, the spinoff series Wild Nevada Memories, the companion podcast Wild Nevadacast, and has earned numerous awards including eight international Communicator Awards and four Telly Awards. Wild Nevada is featured on more than 200 PBS member stations across the country. 

Orr is a Nevada transplant who moved to Reno with her family when she was in high school. She is an alum of the University of Nevada, Reno, and of the UNR Reynolds School of Journalism. Orr is an enthusiastic outdoors woman and hiker, as well as a trail runner. She loves to travel and have adventures, but is always happy to get home and spend time with her dog.
