Representatives from Save Mart Stores in Carson City delivered checks Wednesday morning to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center (RWFRC), the proceeds of which had been collected from the company’s GIVE.SHARE.CARE food-sharing program.
Ron Wood Executive Director Joyce Buckingham said store managers from FoodMaxx and Save Mart Supermarket presented separate checks to her at the resource center, located at 2621 Northgate Lane in Carson City.
FoodMaxx raised $500, while Save Mart’s two supermarkets in Carson City generated $4,344 in funds for the RWFRC.
“Donations go to the Ron Wood Community Essentials Food Bank to assist our community with emergency food,” Buckingham said. “Demonstrating its commitment to the Carson City community, FoodMaxx matched donations at the checkout register Wednesday up to $1,500 for the Ron Wood Family Resource Center.”
Save Mart’s GIVE.CARE.SHARE charity was created to help combat hunger in the community by making matching corporate donations to a customer’s gift tag purchase at the register.
