Grassroot calls for a national strike and economic black out (meaning those engaging will not spend money, go to work or go to school today) have swept the nation — but in some places moreso than others.
In Reno, several Midtown stores announced they would shutter today in honor of the strike and several high school and middle schools are staging walk outs.
However, in contrast, many residents have reported knowing nothing about the calls to strike.
The call comes amid ongoing protests over the recent killings of US citizens in Minneapolis, and the increased deployment of federal agents as part of the President’s immigration enforcement tactics.
So, tell us as a local: have you heard about the blackout, and are you participating today?
