The Nevada Highway Patrol led a vehicle pursuit Thursday morning that ended north of Carson City with the suspect jumping out of the vehicle and fleeing on foot before being captured near the old Highway 395 exit.

The pursuit began at around 10:15 a.m. in Washoe Valley in which NHP was following a vehicle that had failed to yield. NHP alerted Carson City Sheriff’s Office that the vehicle was traveling southbound toward Carson City. The vehicle, which was approaching Carson City and seeing deputies, turned around, went northbound and crashed, said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Mike Cullen who was at the scene.

The male adult suspect then fled on foot, nearly being struck by vehicles on the highway and was quickly captured. Two ambulances were called to the scene for minor injuries.

Troopers were attempting to stop the vehicle after a report of a domestic battery happening inside the vehicle. NHP had attempted to lay road spikes on the ground with the suspect driving around them.

The woman stayed in the car, and was later released, according to MyNews4.com. She did not sustain injuries.
