Steve Robinson, a deputy chief of staff and legislative director for former Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons and previously the state’s top forestry and fire official, has been appointed to the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency governing board.
“As a former at-large board member myself, I know Steve Robinson’s experience as a natural resource consultant will be invaluable to the TRPA,” said Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval. “Lake Tahoe is one of our most precious state and national treasures, so it is important to me that Nevada has a strong voice on the TRPA.”
Robinson also served as the transition director for the Gibbons’ administration to Sandoval and his team. Previously he served as deputy chief of staff and legislative director for Gibbons. Prior to working for Gibbons, he worked in Gov. Kenny Guinn’s office from 2003 to 2007, after having served as Nevada State Forester and director of the National Interagency Fire Center.
In his capacity as deputy chief of staff, he also oversaw all environmental permitting and regulatory activities. In addition, he supervised the Governor’s Washington, D.C., office and was Governor Guinn’s staff counsel to the Western Governors Association.
“I have followed TRPA for about 30 years — since college,” Robinson said. “It is an honor to be selected to serve on its board.”
Robinson is a natural resource consultant affiliated with R&R Partners. His board position was previously held by Allen Biaggi, former DCNR director.
“Steve is extremely qualified to serve on TRPA’s board,” said Leo Drozdoff, director of the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, who made the appointment. “He has a lifetime of experience in natural resources in both the public and private sector.
