A 49-year-old man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor warrant and four other offenses including driving without proof of insurance, driving on a suspended license, open container and talking on a cell phone while driving, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy was driving westbound on Highway 50 near Brown Street. He observed a white Chevrolet truck in the number two lane driving westbound. The driver of the vehicle was talking on a cell phone held up to his left ear, the arrest report states.
The deputy stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver who presented an Arizona driver’s license that said he was from Yuma, Ariz. He was unable to provide the deputy with a current proof of insurance for the vehicle.
A computer check showed his license was suspended out of Arizona. He also had a contempt of court warrant issued out of Carson City Justice court that was confirmed. He was arrested at 4:55 p.m. While conducting inventory of the vehicle the officer located a flask containing alcohol in the front seat next to where the man was seated. Around two-thirds of the alcohol inside was consumed. Bail: $2,418.
