The Carson City Fire Department was called to a structure fire that broke out Monday night in a portable classroom at Pioneer High School at 202 Corbett Street.
At around 10 p.m. firefighters responded to the school for a report of a fire in one of the portable classrooms. Firefighters arrived to smoke coming from the building and began dousing it with water.
With smoke persisting, firefighters classified the fire as a working incident and began to cut open portions of the walls and attic. A small fire was located inside an HVAC eaves inside the portable building and was doused, according to firefighters on scene. The fire was declared extinguished at 10:25 p.m.
The fire was confined to the one portable classroom. No other structures are involved.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigation.
