A man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of stabbing his daughter three times in the arm with a fork that was used to stoke a fire, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Arrested was Brett Later, 44, of Gardnerville who was booked into Douglas County Jail on suspicion of domestic battery and battery with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000.

According to Douglas County sheriff’s Sgt. Pat Brooks, deputies were called to High School Street at 7:55 p.m. and met with the victim, who advised that she had been stabbed in the arm by her father.

The victim stated they were sitting around a fire pit when the conversation became argumentative. The suspect, Later, allegedly picked up a metal fork used to stir the fire and stabbed at the victim three times, striking her in the arm, said Brooks.
