Carson City resident Oscar Fuentes has announced his campaign for Nevada Nevada Assembly District 40. The seat is occupied by PK O’Neill, who announced his retirement in fall 2025. Fuentes, a Democrat, announced Wednesday morning that he is running for the seat in the following press release:
Oscar Fuentes, a lifelong Carson City resident, union member, and public servant, announced today that he is running for Nevada Assembly District 40. Fuentes is entering the race with a clear focus on strengthening Nevada’s economy, keeping families together, and ensuring every child has access to a world-class education.
“District 40 deserves leadership that understands the real challenges working families face,” Fuentes said. “I’m running to be a strong voice for our community and to make sure Nevada’s future works for everyone.”
Fuentes is committed to building an economy that supports small businesses, encourages responsible growth, and creates stable, good-paying jobs for working families. He believes that when local businesses succeed, communities grow stronger and families have more opportunities to thrive.
Family unity is also a core priority of Fuentes’ campaign. As a longtime advocate for his neighbors and a proud member of the Latino community, he opposes practices that separate children from their parents and is committed to protecting families from unjust enforcement policies that cause harm to communities.
