Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce our upcoming production of “Annie, Jr.,” Jan. 9-11, 2015 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. She is determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. With the help of the other girls in the orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC.

In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations and even befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. She finds a home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy. Annie, Jr. features such favorite songs as “Tomorrow,” “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile” and “Easy Street.”

The cast is comprised entirely of over 100 local youth grades K-12, who play all the classic characters we all know and love! Leading the cast as Annie, the spirited little orphan, are Hailey Ponczoch and Cassidy Buchan of Carson City. Also featured are Jacob Reem and Bryce O’Connor, as Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks; Payton Henderson and Alexa Haight as the villainous Miss Hannigan; and Parker Schmid and Angelina Mendez as the loveable mutt, Sandy! Also rounding out the cast are a host of young actors, singers and dancers bringing to life this timeless tale!

ANNIE, Jr. is directed by Youth Theatre Carson City founder and Northern Nevada native, Andie Anderson. Anderson has been a part of the arts community in Northern Nevada for more than 20 years. She just recently earned her Master of Arts Degree in Theatre Education from Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts and is ecstatic to be back in her hometown sharing her love of the arts with the young people of this community.
“I can’t be more proud of this cast,” commented Anderson.

“We’ve taken a journey, not only through Annie’s story, but through the history of the Great Depression in America, and these amazing kids have really grown through the process. Annie, Jr. has something for audiences of all ages to enjoy.”

ANNIE, Jr. will run January 9 and 10 at 7pm and January 10 and 11 at 2pm in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William Street in Carson City, NV.
