New Year’s Day was especially important for Nevada Humane Society in 2015 — not only has the goal for Home 4 the Holidays been surpassed, but NHS in both Reno and Carson City celebrated the first pet adoptions of the new year!
In Reno, the first cat adopted was Tabby; the first dog, Harley; and the first rabbit, Raiden. In Carson City, the first adoption was Sally the dog. Each of these animals went home with loving families and will now be looking forward to a happy 2015 in a new home.
In addition, the Home 4 the Holidays pet adoption drive, which began on November 21 and will run through January 4, has been a success. NHS set the goal of placing 1,000 animals into love homes, and to date over 1,140 animals have gone home!
“Celebrating the first adoptions and knowing that we have surpassed our adoption goal is such a wonderful start to 2015,” said Kimberly Wade, Senior Manager of Communications and Events. “But it gets even better, because Home 4 the Holidays continues through Sunday so we’ll beat our goal even further than expected! That is such great news for both of our shelters — knowing we are making a difference in Reno and Carson City is something to be proud of.”
Adoption fees for Home 4 the Holidays are discounted and all dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, services that normally cost over $240. Rabbits are also spayed or neutered. The pet adoption drive continues through January 4.
Nevada Humane Society is open for adoptions seven days a week at two locations from 11am to 6:30pm and an hour earlier at 10am on Saturday. For pet adoptions in Reno, visit 2825 Longley Lane. For pet adoptions in Carson City, visit 3770 Butti Way. For more information about Nevada Humane Society, visit www.NevadaHumaneSociety.org or call 775-856-2000.
