Carson City SET officers arrest man on felony drug charges
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 02/19/2014 - 12:34pmA 27-year-old Dayton man was arrested Feb. 14, 6:31 p.m. in the area of Caroline and Valley streets in Carson City on suspicion of felony conspiracy, possession with intent to sell and transportation of heroin. Gilbert Raymond Ramirez, was being held on $35,000 bail.
According to the arrest report, officers with the Carson City Special Enforcement Team worked with a person who agreed to make a transaction while wearing a wire. The transaction would be for four "points" of heroin, which in street terms a point is .10 grams for a total of $80, the arrest report states.
Virginia City Camel Races: In Search of Bob Richards
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sat, 08/24/2013 - 11:36amThe 53rd annual Virginia City Camel Races will begin on Sept. 6, and once again the media will enlighten us on how the race was born over a half century ago, with a hoax published in the Territorial Enterprise in 1959 by then editor, Bob Richards.
The story is true. Richards, however, was a hellava lot more than the father of the Virginia City Camel Races. A talented individual with a creative mind, Richards was a driving force for the promotion of tourism on the Comstock for the 14 years he lived here.
Crime Log: Carson City Sheriff's Department makes several arrests this weekend
Submitted by T. Costa on Tue, 02/21/2012 - 2:43pmCarson City Sheriff's deputies arrested several individuals for serious crimes over President's Day weekend. Among those are:
- Manuel Ricardo Pinuelas, 39, a self-employed Carson City resident, at about 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at the 4000 block of Emerson Drive. Pinuelas was arrested for a felony embezzelment and unlawful use of a credit card warrant in his name. Bail is set at $5,000.
