Single lane closures begin Thursday between Carson City and U.S. 50 Spooner Summit

Single lane closures will be in place on U.S. 50 in areas between Carson City and Spooner summit beginning April 25 as the Nevada Department of Transportation enhances storm drainage to help preserve water quality and reduce erosion.

Man arrested Thursday after throwing rocks through Carson City Aquatic Center windows

A 36-year-old transient man was arrested at the Carson City Aquatic Center after throwing rocks through the windows. He was arrested for failing to register as an ex-felon, destruction of city property, and disorderly conduct.

Deputies responded to the Aquatic Center Thursday just after 5 pm for a report of a man throwing rocks through the windows of the center.

Man convicted of felony child abuse, claims girlfriend’s baby was burned by a malevolent spirit

Marcellous Davone Galaviz was convicted of child abuse with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm in Carson City on Thursday following a three day trial. The man claimed that he awoke from a nap to a spirit holding him down and burning him, and later he realized the spirit had also burned his girlfriend’s baby who was under his care.

Final season of path construction along State Route 28 at Tahoe begins this month

CARSON CITY — Final construction of State Route 28 shared use path, water quality and traffic safety improvements will begin April 22 with single lane closures and short-term full road closures south of Incline Village at Lake Tahoe. Project completion is anticipated for early July and will be announced prior to opening.

Carson Tahoe Health’s Emergency Department: Reimagined Triage space remodeled, process improvements implemented, and more

CARSON CITY — Carson Tahoe Health is proud to announce the completion of a recent renovation to the emergency department triage area. The newly designed space maximizes resources for quick care (testing and treatment) and serves as a monitored, internal waiting area. Newly carpeted and furnished, the triage area was completed and opened to patients just last week.

Carson City mayor donates $500 to Bee Hotel Project by the Leadership Institute

On Monday morning Mayor Bob Crowell donated $500 to the Carson City Chamber of Commerce 2019 Leadership Institute to help fund this year’s class project, a bee hotel in honor of the community being named the first Bee City USA of Nevada.
