Forget the rotary shoulder turn; let the edges do the work, and big Saturday at Heavenly
Submitted by Sam Bauman on Wed, 02/01/2012 - 7:30pmSpent some time skiing at Heavenly Mountain Resort the other day and the snow was fine, though pretty hard at 9 a.m. but softening as the sun at Lake Tahoe came into play. Couldn't help noticing how many skiers are still using the old rotary shoulder turn yet skiing on modern, shaped skis. That's a waste of energy.
On shaped skis keep the body facing down the fall line, letting the edges do the turn. That's what today's skis are all about. The deep sidecut makes the skis turn when you put the edges in. Gotta keep the hands out front, which incidentally is crucial in avoiding ACL injury.

Movie Review: 'The Devil Inside' is a waste of your time
Submitted by admin on Sat, 01/07/2012 - 3:41pmThe "found footage" film (whatever that means) "The Devil Inside" now playing at the Fandango Galaxy cineplex in Carson City and elsewhere, is another exorcist adventure of sorts — mostly disparate parts.
A quick warning: if you suffer from motion sickness that is one good reason to skip this movie. Most of it was shot by handheld cameras, resulting in nausea in some cases, like mine. There are other good reasons to see "Hugo" or even Desi and Luci reruns instead.

On the morning of that third day you will rise s-l-o-w-l-y, (if at all) and hate your body. Everything will be sore except your earlobes and lips. How's that for a fitness advertisement?
