Reno Police Department mourns loss of officer
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 01/01/2020 - 3:12pmIt is with heavy hearts that the Reno Police Department announces the death of one of our newest police officers. Officer Bradley Hartsell suffered an unforeseen medical issue while at his home on December 19, 2019.
Officer Hartsell joined the Reno Police Department in April of 2019, and graduated from the Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academy on December 3, 2019.
Truck used in Dayton ATM theft located; suspect still at large

Lyon County, Reno Police and FBI investigate recent rash of ATM thefts in Dayton, Reno
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 12/27/2019 - 2:00pmThe Lyon County Sheriff's Office along with the Reno Police Department are investigating a potential connection between two recent burglary incidents in which two entire ATM machines were stolen from South Reno and Dayton.
According to Lyon County Sheriff's Office Detective Lieutenant Jerry Pattinson, the two local law enforcement agencies are looking into a concrete connection between the two offenses, and yesterday the FBI was on scene in Dayton.

Kyle Sullivan Bryan was found not guilty by a jury on both counts on April 11, 2019 in El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe.

Toys were donated at state buildings and agencies, then delivered to the State Capitol in Carson City for a final pick-up Tuesday by Santa, joined by Joyce Buckingham, Toys for Tots Executive Director for Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties.
Possible Homicide reported on Carson City's Washoe Tribe Reservation early Friday morning

On December 13, 2019 at approximately 0304 hours the Washoe Tribe Police and the Carson City Sheriff's Department responded to the area of Boyle St., Carson City, NV, within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Washoe Tribe for a reported Domestic Battery.
Upon arrival it was discovered that an adult victim within a residence had suffered apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The adult victim was declared deceased at the scene.
The Washoe Tribe Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are currently investigating the incident and have made an arrest of an adult individual.
Further details of the incident are being withheld at this time to ensure due process for the arrestee.

Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to the 2800 block of Boyle St. on the Washoe Tribe reservation early Friday morning to assist the Carson City Fire Department in regards to a gun shot victim call for service.
The Tribal Police were dispatched, and CCSO responded to aid first responders and the Tribe until officers could arrive on scene.
Carson City Fire Department first responders attempted to provide life saving services to the victim, but were unsuccessful.

Carson City agrees to settle second Camp Carson molestation lawsuit for $1.25 million

The lawsuits allege that while the children were enrolled in Camp Carson Summer Camp in 2016 as Wagoneers (first graders) a 15-year-old volunteer inappropriately sexually touched the four children.

Department of Public Safety appoints new Nevada Highway Patrol Colonel
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 11/13/2019 - 8:53amCARSON CITY — Nevada Department of Public Safety Director George Togliatti announced the appointment of Daniel Solow as Colonel of the Nevada Highway Patrol effective Monday, Nov. 8, 2019.
Colonel Solow was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in December 2017 and has been with the Department since 1995, beginning his career with the Nevada DPS as a Trooper serving the Laughlin/Searchlight district. The previous NHP Colonel, John O'Rourke, retired in August 2019.
Nevada Dept. Public Safety commissions 17 new peace officers at academy graduation

Of the 17 graduates, 11 will join the Nevada DPS, Parole and Probation Division and 6 will join the Nevada DPS, Highway Patrol Division. The new Peace Officers will be assigned statewide.

The 2019 season for CHS girls golf was a great experience for everyone on the team. This year, the team was comprised of five girls: Karen Beglin, Sophia Taggart, Karrina Ferris, Brooke Gudmundson, myself, and our coaches, Wade Greenlee and Jack Butler.
