Hacienda Market and Grill now open in Carson City

After a months-long remodel that began earlier this spring, the Hacienda Market and Grill opened its doors to customers on Aug. 25, owner Elsa Kinzie said.

Carson City road report for Monday through June 2

Here is the Carson City area road construction and maintenance report for the week of Monday, May 27 through June 2. Curry Street will be closed Monday from Robinson Street to Spear Street due to a special event.

Meanwhile during the week, there will be road work on Long Street between Roop Street and Molly Drive. No delays are expected. There will also be road work on Nye Lane between Hot Springs Road and Northgate Lane. No delays are expected.

Utility work for various projects will occur on the following roads this week with flagger controlled traffic and possible minor delays:

Straw Hat Pizza grand opening in Carson City

Attention all pizza fans: Join Straw Hat Pizza in the Plaza 50 Shopping Center in Carson City on Aug. 27 as it celebrates its official public grand opening.
It will be a family night at Straw Hat with a Live DJ out front from 5 to 8 p.m. Pizza specials and free raffle tickets to win prizes from Straw Hat Pizza and Plaza 50 merchants.

Shopping center tenants vow to continue after Carson City anchor store leaves

Of the 27 businesses that front the Plaza 50 in Carson City, home of the anchor store Sak N' Save, many of its merchants are now left to gauge how their own operations will change after learning the grocery store will close its doors for good on May 30.

But the show will go on for many of the merchants, who vow to put their best face on an otherwise bad situation. Much like the recession has been thus far in the capital city, the collective wisdom remains "hope for the best."
