Farewell
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 12/16/2016 - 1:12pmFinally the Nevada Appeal includes my name and the statements I made at a Board meeting. I have not had this much attention in the last four years.
The article had tidbits from my statement, here is a more complete version:
Politics is held in an arena, where punches are thrown. I have been in the boxing ring earlier in my life; knocked out cold, my opponent had the best left hook. My nose has been re-arranged a few times. I can take a punch.

Submitted by editor on Sat, 11/05/2016 - 9:54pmThis event may not be as exciting as Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs triumph over the Cleveland Indians, ending a 108 year title drought, but anyone who ever attended Carson High School or Douglas High School knows that its rivalry has lasted equally as long.
Facts about Sales Tax
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 11/05/2016 - 11:49amLet's put this silly claim by my opponent that he's the voice of reason to rest and use his supposed opposition to the 1/8th city sales tax hike to do it.
With the city Supervisor seat from Ward 4 in the balance, Jim Shirk once again wants to have things both ways in typical politician fashion by saying he voted against the sales tax hike and opposed the downtown Carson Street project, yet he leaves out important details about his voting record and value received.
As his opponent, I'm duty bound to point out the following:

Letter: Vote for the candidates who value existing homeowners
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 10/25/2016 - 8:24amDear Editor,I see from the ad in the Nevada Appeal, that Crowell, Bonkowski and Barrette have finally declared themselves a slate. They say they are for preservation of property rights. Not those of existing Carsonites but only those of absentee developers.
They say they are for protection of home ownership. Not the protection of existing home owners, but for future Californicators with big bucks.

Voting as YOUR Representative
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 07/24/2016 - 9:25amIn response to Mr. Waclo's letter dated July 19, 2016, his statements regarding my positions are not accurate.
I opposed the 1/8th cent sales tax because voters were denied their right to vote. This tax includes funding for narrowing the downtown street and is similar to a project previously voted against by the citizens. Based upon past and current input received, nothing has changed.
The underground utility work would have been required and the funds were available, even if the narrowing of Carson Street had NOT occurred. That is a fact.

We Want The Truth
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 05/13/2016 - 8:56amWhat do you want from your local Government ? Generally we answer that question with: Provide Fire and Police first. I suggest we have a more elemental need. We want the TRUTH. The residents of this community will see the wisdom of any service or project if it is based in the truth. The more the truth is shaded the more the residents will resist. Without truth there is no trust.
