Golden Bough will be returning to the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on Saturday, March 21 as part of the BAC's Celtic Music Series.

The 2020 Celtic Music Series will continue on Feb. 15, 2020 in the Brewery Art Center’s performance hall in Carson City at 7 p.m. with Fortunate Strangers. This is the sixth season of Carson’s Celtic Music series.

Heading into the last weekend of January there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Roots Raconteur Ray Bonneville returns to Silver City in February for a one-night performance accompanied by acclaimed instrumentalist Richie Lawrence on keyboard and accordion.

STATELINE — Mont Bleu, a resort that has gone by three names and had five owners in 41 years, is playing a central role in the future of the South Lake Tahoe gaming market.

Eldorado Resorts CEO Thomas Reeg said the Reno-based company will need to sell at least one of the three casinos it will own in Tahoe once a $17.3 billion merger/buyout of Caesars Entertainment is completed early next year.

It’s a holly, jolly Christmas! Cherie Shipley and Lake Tahoe Entertainment present the 18th Annual Community Holiday Show "Joyful Noise" this Thursday, Dec. 19 at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

Join local musician Kingwhistler and other local favorites for "Holiday Homeward with Kingwhistler and friends," a concert to celebrate the season.

Kingwhistler will be joined by Jenera Paxton and Josh Procaccini, and other guest musicians include Keith Alan Barnett, Craig Logan, Ross Wylde and Ten Dollar Pony.

With activities lining up around the capital city through the weekend, Thursday events around the region include a meeting of the Healthy Communities Coalition in Silver Springs, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, and a Carson City CASA volunteer information hour and training seminar. Along the music front, CHS Band will host its winter concert at the Carson City Community Center and our own local country music star and Nashville recording artist Art Mulcahy will be at Jimmy G's. Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. National and local bands converged on Bowers Mansion Saturday during the 34th annual Bowers Mansion Bluegrass Festival.

Attendees by the hundreds set up low-backed chairs, picnic blankets or simply laid down on the grass as an enticing lineup of bands took the stage.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

Nevada Humanities will welcome author Willy Vlautin at a series of events throughout northern Nevada during the month of September. Mr. Vlautin is the author of Don’t Skip Out On Me, a 2019 pick for Nevada Reads—a statewide, public book club offered by Nevada Humanities. Nevada Reads invites Nevadans to read selected works of literature and to come together in their communities to share ideas and perceptions inspired by the book club selections.

The Brewery Arts Center welcomes Americana favorites from Lake Tahoe, The Dead Winter Carpenters, as the headline act to The Change Companies’ stage for the Levitt AMP Carson City free music series this Saturday, August 10. Acclaimed singer singer-writer Spike McGuire is the opening act.

The 16th Annual Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music and Art Festival kicks off Friday at Bliss Mansion, 608 Elizabeth Street from 4 to 6 p.m., and continues that evening at the Governor’s Mansion, directly across Mountain Street. The free event includes live music, art, food, and tours of the Bliss Mansion.

Roger Morrison Laird passed away on August 6, 2019, in the comfort of his home in Carson City, NV surrounded by close family.

Roger was married to his high school sweetheart, Jean (Russell) Laird. They shared 56 years of marriage.
