Moons of Jupiter Band to play Friday at Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City

Moons of Jupiter, a 7 piece dance, r&b, funk, blues and jazz band will make its first live appearance at Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City on Friday, August 2 from 7-10 p.m. The band is based out of South Lake Tahoe with Carson City local Myke Smith on the saxes and lead vocals.

Alleged leader of local 'outlaw motorcycle club' arrested on plethora of charges by SET, Tri-County Gang Unit

A 49-year-old Carson City man was arrested by the Tri-County Gang Unit withe the assistance of the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team, on five felony charges, one gross misdemeanor charge, and three misdemeanor charges after he allegedly committed felony domestic battery.

According to the report, David Sanchez is the president of the Deadly Sins Motorcycle Club Carson City Nevada chapter and he is associated with the Vagos Motorcycle Club and was arrested in the 900 block of Woodside Drive early Friday morning.

Suspects named in South Lake Tahoe bomb scare, arrests made following FBI investigation

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A lead from the Las Vegas FBI led law enforcement to South Lake Tahoe to confront what they thought to be a woman intent on harming herself and perhaps others with a bomb.

Carson Deputies assist in multi-agency chase of woman with bomb allegedly strapped to her chest

UPDATE 6:15: A second subject in relation to the multi-agency chase of a woman who allegedly had a bomb strapped to her chest is now in custody following a SWAT and Tactical raid of an Emerald Bay grocery store.

According to South Lake Tahoe dispatch, a hitchhiker was identified by a witness, and was corroborated by a California State Park Ranger.

The man is in custody and the SWAT Team is currently sweeping the store for packages. It is reported that the man previously was carrying a backpack but one was not found on his person when he was taken into custody.

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.:

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office issued the following statement:

Minden, Nevada- On July 26, 2019 at approximately 2:00 pm, a motor vehicle was being followed by an area Task Force. The subjects inside the motor vehicle had felony warrants and prior evading law enforcement arrests. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was requested to shut down the area of SR 207 (Kingsbury Grade) and Foothill Road, Gardnerville, Nevada in anticipation the suspects were driving on SR 207 eastbound.

The suspects changed their direction and drove into South Lake Tahoe, Ca. One of the suspects was arrested in California.

Police and deputies from multiple regional units, including Carson City deputies, assisted on a chase of a woman who allegedly had a bomb strapped to her chest on Friday afternoon.

Around 2:30 p.m., several Carson City and Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies were seen ascending Spooner towards the lake who were, according to a Douglas County official, assisting with a chase of a woman who allegedly had a bomb strapped to her chest.

24-Hour Agony Ride Fundraiser to Benefit At-Risk Youth This Friday

Christian Encounter Ranch of Grass Valley, Calif., will hold its annual Agony Ride Fundraiser this Friday and Saturday, July 26th and 27th, in the Sierra Valley (about 1 hour northwest of Carson City off of Highway 70). During the event, cyclists commit to riding their bicycles as far as they can in 24 hours and are sponsored on a per-mile or flat rate basis.

Local rider Christopher Palmer, of Washoe Valley, will be riding for the 7th time this year. To date, he's ridden a total 1910 miles and raised more than $17,000 for the ministry.

A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested at a Salmon Drive residence for suspicion of domestic battery second, a sheriff's deputy report said.

University of Nevada students to be housed in Circus Circus tower following July 5 dorm explosion

The University of Nevada has announced that students who were set to be put up in the Argenta Dormitory at the Reno campus will now be relocated to a tower at Circus Circus following the July 5 explosion that destroyed a good amount of the building and left a handful of students with minor injuries.

In addition, the resident dining facility on the first floor of Argenta, in which all dormitory students with paid meal plans eat during the year for most meals, was also damaged and will remain closed for the next academic year.

Carson City deputies arrest three in felony drug bust

Deputies arrested three Carson residents Friday evening in the 2800 block of Bel Air Way on felony possession of controlled substance among other offenses.

According to the report, Special Enforcement Team deputies arrested Gregory Dee Shoemaker, Nicole Iona Contreras and Devin Edward Keller after receiving multiple drug complaints about a residence.

Carson City Fire responds to house fire caused by space heater Friday morning

Carson City firefighters responded to a report of a non-emergency house fire just after 10 p.m. on Friday morning after a resident called to say her space heater had caught fire.

At the time of the call, the fire was out but she wanted firefighters to check it out to make sure she was no longer in danger.

When using a space heater or air conditioning unit, always make sure the area is free of debris and that nothing is covering the unit that could catch fire or impede airflow in and out of the unit.

Bay Area correctional officer, U.S. Army veteran identified as Lake Tahoe drowning victim

A correctional officer with the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office in the San Francisco Bay Area has been identified as the man who died of an apparent drowning at Lake Tahoe's Zephyr Cove on Tuesday.
