The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County will receive $131,661 to partner with the University of Nevada to demonstrate real-time transit infrastructure monitoring in the City of Reno through FTA’s Real-Time Asset Management program.

Pastor Tim Plummer, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Missionary Area Director, has once again brought Christmas trees to Carson City to support FCA. Christmas is fast approaching, and most agree it is the best time of the year. The holidays can be a difficult time for many, but it does not have to be this way.

As area hospitals are quickly filling up with COVID-19 and non COVID-19 patients alike, Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) has joined the unfortunate ranks.

Thankfully, CTH thought ahead and for the second time since the pandemic began, they chose to postpone all elective surgeries until the surge in cases is back under control.

The Salvation Army wants to extend a huge thank you to the community of Carson City. Last Friday, Nov. 20, the nonprofit held its 23rd Annual Turkey Drop. UPDATE 8:10PM: Five apartment units were damaged and six people have been displaced due to the fire at 410 West Winnie Lane, according to Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Micah Horton. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Carson High School's NJROTC Drill and Color Guard team competed in their first ever ‘virtual’ drill competition hosted by University of North Carolina ROTC program. The various teams’ performances were captured on video and sent to the University for judging.

For the week ending November 14, initial claims for unemployment insurance (UI) totaled 7,243, down 313 claims, or 4.1 percent, compared to last week’s total of 7,556 claims, according to finalized data from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR). As COVID-19 cases soar in Northern Nevada and local and regional hospitals are reaching capacity, Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City is making changes to adapt to the surge of cases.

CARSON CITY — The City encourages the community to stay informed, practice good hygiene, wear masks and when feasible please stay home.

The City is proactively taking steps to ensure the health and safety of its residents. In response to the Governor’s recent stay at home request, the City will continue to enable staff to work from home in order to limit the amount of personnel in the workplace.

A small airplane that made an emergency landing in a field Wednesday afternoon near Fremont Elementary School in Carson City was moved for tow to nearby Saliman Road, across from the school.

Carson City and our Northern Nevada region are seeing a slow, but steady increase in the number of COVID cases. Noticing this, and acting on recommendations from the U.S. Surgeon General and the American College of Surgeons, Carson Tahoe decided to temporarily suspend non-emergent or non-time-sensitive surgeries through Nov. 22, in which time it will be reevaluated.
