Notice is Hereby given that the City of Carson City will conduct a public hearing on September 12, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Community Development Conference Room A, 108 E. Proctor Street, Carson City, NV 8970 in order to discuss potential applications for funding under the next fiscal year’s (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021) State Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and to solicit additional citizen input on possible activities to be included in an application.

New 'Business Retention and Expansion' program under review between Carson City Library, NNDA, and Adams Hub

A Joint Operating Agreement is currently under review between the Carson City Library, the Northern Nevada Development Authority, and Adams Hub, to create and manage a “Business Retention and Expansion” program.

At the Board of Supervisor’s meeting on Aug. 1, a presentation was held to discuss a possible joint contract between the three entities, for the creation of a Business Retention and Expansion program, which would be funded by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation.

NNDA Pioneer Award nomination deadline is Wednesday

Nominations are being accepted for the 2019 Pioneer Awards through the Northern Nevada Development Authority with the deadline to make nominations closing on Wednesday, July 31 at 11:59 p.m.

NNDA Names FISH Executive Director Jim Peckham 2019 Pioneer of the Year

CARSON CITY — Northern Nevada Development Authority announced Tuesday that Jim Peckham, Executive Director of Friends in Service Helping since 2009, has been named as the 2019 Pioneer of the Year. NNDA’s Pioneer of the Year award honors an individual who both personally and professionally supports and has had a significant impact on the economic development and growth of the region.

New project in Fernley could bring 10,000-plus jobs to Northern Nevada

The Economic Development Association of Western Nevada, together with real estate company Mark IV Capital, announced Tuesday that a new 4,300-acre master planned commercial and industrial park is planned in Fernley.

Northern Nevada Development Authority: Mineral County Joins Nevada’s Sierra Region

Northern Nevada Development Authority on Friday announced its economic development service area has been expanded to include Mineral County. The Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development \has designated NNDA as the regional development authority (RDA) for the county, effective July 1, 2019. Mineral County joins Nevada’s Sierra Region that also includes Carson City, Douglas County, Lyon County and Storey County.

Population boom expected in Carson City, EDAWN study says

As of 2018, the state certified population of Carson City was 56,057. There are many studies out there showing population and many of these reports show the U.S. Census Bureau as their source and their latest estimate for 2018 showed 55,414.

Pinwheels for Prevention cover Carson City Legislature, raising awareness to prevent child abuse

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and Carson City has gone blue with the Pinwheels for Prevention Campaign, a national event hosted by Carson City’s Advocates to End Domestic Violence, and Prevent Child Abuse Nevada.

On Friday, Carson City residents joined together to plant pinwheels across the Nevada Legislature's lawn, in an effort to raise awareness about preventing child abuse.

“The pinwheel is an uplifting reminder of childhood and the bright futures all children deserve,” a spokesperson for the national event said. “We want to reinforce the notion that healthy child development serves as a foundation for both community and economic development.”

Minden business one of seven to receive business incentives from Gov. Sisolak, Economic Board

LAS VEGAS/CARSON CITY, Nev. – Gov. Steve Sisolak and the Nevada Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED) board approved performance-based initiatives for seven businesses to relocate in Nevada or expand their operations, which could create 270 new jobs.

The companies’ applications approved for initiatives represent a wide range of businesses across the state including a robotic company in Reno, a technology company in Las Vegas, and an industrial supplier of organic botanicals, spices, chili and teas in Minden.

UNR to host cybersecurity conference; industry, academia leaders aim to tackle challenges

RENO — Local and regional industries will come together as part of the University of Nevada, Reno’s inaugural cybersecurity conference from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., April 2 in the Joe Crowley Student Union.
