Carson City Special Enforcement Team made three separate felony drug arrests Thursday

A 41-year-old transient woman was arrested in the area of E. Nye and N. Lompa Lanes Thursday afternoon for felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of heroin, felony possession of fentanyl, a felony warrant for burglary, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Moundhouse man booked on felony warrant in Carson City after multiple felony DUIs

A 52-year-old Moundhouse man was booked in the Carson City Jail on a felony warrant out of Dayton Township Justice Court.

Christopher Allen Reagan was in custody at the Carson City Jail on an unrelated criminal charge when a warrant was sent from the Nevada Department of Public Safety, issued out of Dayton Township Justice Court.

Schools in Dayton go on voluntary lockdown after report of man in park near school with a rifle

UPDATE 1:05PM: According to Lyon County Sheriff's Office Lt. Abel Ortiz, the man who was believed to be carrying a rifle, was instead carrying a pellet gun and had been shooting squirrels at a park near the elementary school. Lt. Ortiz said the man knew that he had made a mistake and was embarrassed for creating the situation. The lieutenant added that the schools did what they were supposed to and there was no threat.

UPDATE 12:35PM: Here's the latest from the Lyon County School District via Facebook. "The precautionary Lock-In at all three Dayton area schools were lifted as of 12:13 p.m. As a result of the prompt actions of law enforcement, school operations have proceeded as normal with all students and staff safe and secure."

Schools in the Dayton area went on voluntary lockdown late Wednesday morning after a report of someone driving around the Dayton High School campus in a pickup with a rifle in the truck, Lyon County Manager Jeff Page said. The voluntary lockdown was a precaution, said Page who contacted Lyon County sheriff's office officials.

Reception Tonight: Carson City art exhibition 'Creative Spark' features 32 area high school artists

The Capital City Arts Initiative announces its exhibition, Creative Spark, at the Community Development Building, also known as the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Thirty-two students from Carson, Dayton, Douglas, and Pioneer high schools have work in the exhibit. CCAI will host a reception for the artists on Wednesday, April 10, 5 to 6:30 p.m.
