Strong south to southwest winds will affect the Carson City and Sierra regions Tuesday into Tuesday night, prompting a High Wind Warning from the National Weather Service and a Winter Storm Warning for the Lake Tahoe Basin.

Another round of gusty winds will return to the Carson City region Tuesday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a High Wind Watch for valley and mountain areas and a Winter Storm Watch for the greater Lake Tahoe area.

Heading into the weekend and inching closer to Thanksgiving, there’s a number of activities around the Carson City region. The fourth annual Carson Valley Turkey Trot begins Friday and will be held virtually throughout the month of November. A fast moving weather system will move across northern Nevada and the Sierra on Friday into Saturday, bringing gusty winds, prompting wind warnings and advisories for the region. The weather system will also bring periods of mountain snow and mainly light valley rain, according to the National Weather Service.

Cold temperatures and some clearing will persist Monday following the snowfall early Sunday that brought a few inches to a foot of snow or more from the valley floors to the Sierra.

Carson City Health and Human Services is report an additional death Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020 due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a Lyon County resident. CCHHS is also reporting 29 new cases and 38 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,782, with 1,609 recoveries and 22 deaths; 151 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Service is reporting Monday, Oct. 26, 2020 that there are 14 new cases and 30 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,753, with 1,571 recoveries and 21 deaths; 161 cases remain active.

Carson City Health and Human Services is reporting Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020 that there are 15 new cases and 23 additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,739, with 1,541 recoveries and 21 deaths; 177 cases remain active.

MINDEN — Partnership Douglas County is teaming up with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to offer a Prescription Drug Round-Up event on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at 1038 Buckeye Road in Minden.

Youth girls and boys lacrosse is coming to the Carson Valley! In partnership with both the High Sierra Lacrosse Foundation and the High Sierra Lacrosse League, Douglas Girls Lacrosse Club is hosting a free youth TryLax lacrosse clinic on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1:00 - 2:30PM at Lampe Park in Gardnerville.

Lyon County, City of Yerington, Carson City Health and Human Services and the Quad County Health Care Coalition will hold a COVID testing operation on Tuesday, Oct. 13 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.. The testing will be at the new City Hall (Old National Guard Building) located on the corner of Main Street and East Goldfield Avenue.

Lyon County officials have been notified that an assisted living facility, Mason Valley Residence, in Yerington had a high number of positive tests for COVID-19.

It is reported that 34 out of 53 tests results were positive.

MINDEN — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain Unit and local places of worship jointly organized a police-community engagement activity to take place in Douglas County as part of the first National Faith and Blue Weekend.

A 23-year-old Carson City man was arrested Saturday in the 1300 block of North Edmonds for felony suspicion of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling, and misdemeanor possession of a firearm while under the influence.
