Two Carson City Jail inmates were booked Friday on drug charges following an investigation into allegedly concealing prescription medication, according to a sheriff's office booking report.

Light snow around Carson City and lower valleys, stronger system to arrive late Tuesday

With anywhere from a light dusting in the capital city to an inch or more from Reno into Washoe Valley, winter weather has arrived again, with a strong system shaping up to drop several feet of snow in the Sierra and several inches along the valley floors, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Students from all four classes recently nominated Carson High School Winterfest candidates for 2021 Winterfest week, Feb. 1-5, where both a King and Queen will be crowned. The theme, Destination Unknown, was decided upon; since students are not allowed to experience the vacations they love, they are bringing their vacation destinations to CHS.

Single vehicle accident reported on Spooner Summit near Highway 28 Saturday evening

Just after 7 p.m. on Saturday evening a single vehicle crash was reported on Spooner Summit near Highway 28.

It is unknown whether or not the vehicle is blocking traffic.

Tahoe-Douglas responders are enroute the area and requested backup from Carson City responders.

Use caution in the area.

COVID-19 hospitalizations on a downtrend in Carson City; rates of infection in children, teens on the rise

The Carson City and Quad-County region is experiencing a downward trend of COVID-19 hospitalizations since the start of the new year. However, while rates of transmission for children and teenagers have remained low since the pandemic began, new reporting shows a significant increase in minors contracting the virus, according to statistics.

Carson City Sheriff's Office requests public's help in locating runaway juvenile

On December 14, 2020 Xavier Pierce ran away from his home in Carson City. Xavier is believed to be in the Carson City area and may be riding a red bicycle.

On Thursday morning, December 17, 2020 Xavier’s mother discovered his wet clothing in their garage and it appeared he changed his clothing. Xavier does not have any medical problems and is not considered at risk.

Xavier has returned to his mother’s home on at least two different occasions, the most recent being on January 4, 2021.

Xavier’s mother believes he is coming to the home when she is gone to change clothes.

Carson City Symphony Association announces Carson Chamber Singers director

Carson City Symphony Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard “Ricky” Hutton as Director of Carson Chamber Singers. His connection with the Carson Chamber Singers goes back to the summer of 2019, when he directed the Singers in the June Pops Party concert in Carson City and the July 4th concert in Genoa.
