Prior to her appointment in 2013, she was a senior manager at Carson City's Sierra Surgery Hospital. A fire at the Carson City landfill continued to burn overnight, leaving smoke visible throughout the Carson City area and into Mound House on Thursday morning. The landfill is closed today as Carson City firefighters and the Department of Public Works continue to suppress it.
