Sen. Bernie Sanders will return to Nevada on Friday, Sept. 13 to host a town hall in Carson City, followed by a rally at the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Jukebox International Film Festival, which celebrates music and film, begins its last day of its 3-day run at noon today, Thursday, at the Carson City Community Center.

The day will kick off with a block of music videos, then go right into the pictured films. Another panel discussion concerning copyrights, licensing and other legal matters will be at 4 p.m. The festival concludes with an awards presentation at 9 p.m.

Coming up on Thursday, August 22, 2019, we can expect continued sunny skies with a daytime near 90. Among upcoming events: Thursday is the final day of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center. Take in a film screening and talk to the filmmakers who made them. There's a Polka Dot Powerhouse Carson City lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, plus Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park and a volunteer expo hosted by Leadership Douglas County. There's also a discussion about aviation history and trends at the Nevada State Museum, a Carson City GOP information meeting on Block Chain technology, Jazz and Beyond music festival events and more. The acting workshop today, Wednesday at Jukebox International Film Festival, in its second day now at Carson City Community Center, just got better. The current VP of Screen Actors Guild, Darrin Miller, will be presenting with workshop leaders Ryan Adams and Alex Emanuel. This is a must-attend event, only available this one time. Admission is $5, and the workshop starts at 2:30 in the Bonanza Room at the Community Center, 851 East William Street.

We're heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with sunny skies and activities throughout the day including day 2 of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center, Jazz and Beyond festival performances to complement Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC followed by a classic outdoor movie to boot, "West Side Story." There's also a free creative event: "Community Art Card, Creating Social Circle" at Comma Coffee, Salsa dancing and more. Enjoy the day.

Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. A festive gathering that celebrates music-themed films arrives in Carson City beginning Tuesday, delivering top-notch features about music and musicians, styles, songwriting and music video making.

The Jukebox International Film Festival is the place music and flicks collide, bringing enthusiasts and artists together from across the country to the capital city for three days, offering free showings, meet-and-greets and more.

Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

The Carson City Board of Supervisors will convene for their next meeting on Thursday, Aug. 15 in the Sierra Room at the Carson City Community Center beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce auditions for "Shrek: The Musical, Jr." The show will run eight performances, January 17-26, 2020 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center. We are looking for actors, singers, and dancers grades K-12, who will be cast to play a host of colorful fractured fairytale characters!

The finalists for the director of the Carson City Library position will be interviewed during a board meeting Friday evening, with a portion dedicated to questions from the public.

The 2019 Jukebox International Film Festival will be August 20-22 at the Bob Boldrick Theater inside the Carson City Community Center.

Registration is now open for the Sky Dome Planetarium coming to the Carson City Community Center gymnasium on Friday. The Mobile Ed Productions planetarium has been rescheduled after being canceled in June.
