State Ethics Backlog In Publishing Opinions Having Real Consequences For One Former Public Official

Former Lyon County Manger Dennis Stark, who appeared before the commission on an ethics matter in November 2010 and January 2011, is still waiting for a published order in his case.
Holiday Spending Expected to be Up Despite Economic Downturn

“This projection of increased spending mirrors the growth seen in retail-specific sales during the first eight months of the year,” said Jeremy Aguero of Applied Analysis. “For several years, Nevada’s spending trailed national spending. This year, we believe that gap is beginning to close.”

WASHINGTON – Teresa Kelly, a former operations supervisor in Colonial Bank’s Mortgage Warehouse Lending Division (MWLD), pleaded guilty today to conspiring to commit bank, wire and securities fraud for her role in a fraud scheme that contributed to the failures of Colonial Bank and Taylor, Bean & Whitaker (TBW).
Colonial Bank had a branch on Stewart Street in Carson City, that now sits vacant.

City working out final details on Nugget Project cost estimates today

Werner said that these cost estimates would determine if they had a feasible project or not, compared with the funding that would be provided by a 1/8 cent sales tax increase and tax increment financing.
He told the board that the results would be presented to the citizen's committee, whose next meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 27.
