Carson City School District superintendent addresses parents in audio statement
Carson City School District Superintendent Richard Stokes issued a 1 minute 47 second audio statement to parents Tuesday night via email providing an update on school safety measures, including safety drills, being taken within the district.
Working in conjunction with the Carson City Sheriff's Office, there will be added police presence at all the schools leading up to Christmas break, Stokes said. Deputies will be patrolling parking lots and side streets "in show of both strength and support."
"We may never know to what causes some people to commit unspeakable crimes against children. However we can take actions to prevent those occurrences from happening at our schools," said Stokes.
