Thirteen Days of Christmas Celebrated at Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Village

Forget the partridge in a pear tree, Tahoe South has 13 days of Christmas at Heavenly Village spanning Dec. 19 to Dec. 31 with live music, ice sculpting, fire dancers, professional ice skaters, interactive games, dining, shopping, photo opportunities inside a giant snow globe and a fireworks display.

Locals Day, Monday, Dec. 19, kicks off the Holiday Celebrations at South Shore Lake Tahoe with $1 parking at the Heavenly Village garage from 2-9 p.m. while discount coupons are available throughout the holiday season. Christmas Cheer. a non-profit who provides clothes, toys and food for families in need throughout the year is accepting donations at KTHO-AM located next to Seattle's Best in the Heavenly Village. Santa’s Workshop Snow Globe, Dec. 19 - Dec. 24, 2 - 7 p.m., offers photos with Santa and performances by the Dickens Boys, instrumental trio on Dec. 24.

The Heavenly Village features a blend of local and national brands reflecting the Tahoe lifestyle with art and photo galleries, high-end clothing, sporting apparel and equipment, jewelry, dining, ice skating, arcade and Cinemax movie theater. The pedestrian-friendly Alpine-style Village with its cobblestone sidewalks and covered parking is located at the base of world-class skiing and a few hundred yards from the Stateline casinos with showroom entertainment, nightlife and gaming.

Following Christmas Day, holiday festivities continue with four days of live music under the Gondola. From 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. local bands will rock Heavenly Village beginning with Jelly Bread on Dec. 26, Lavish Green, Dec. 27, The Trey Stone Band, Dec. 28 and finishing with Tragically White, Dec. 29.

Dance takes to the ice on Dec. 29 and 30 when professional skaters perform 20-minute shows at the Heavenly Village Ice Rink beginning at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile art meets ice on Dec. 30 when Fear No Ice, the world’s first and only performance art ice sculpting company takes the center stage next to the Ice Rink beginning at 7:30 p.m. Since 1989, Fear No Ice has represented the USA in two Winter Olympics and competed in 10 world championships. Ice sculptures will be featured earlier in the day, from 3 - 3:30 p.m. at Heavenly Village.

The grand finale on Dec. 31, “A Heavenly New Year Celebration” begins at 3 p.m. and includes ice sculpture displays, concert, face painting, interactive games, food and beverages, snowboard simulators, followed by the Gondola Drop with a decorated and illuminated car descending from the top of the mountain in a “midnight” countdown at 9 p.m. followed by a spectacular fireworks display over Heavenly Village.
