Carson Tahoe Health’s Sierra Surgery Hospital earns top quality care recognition
Sierra Surgery Hospital, in partnership with Carson Tahoe Health in Carson City, has been named Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America.
The Joint Commission recognized Sierra Surgery Hospital for exemplary performance using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care. Specifically, Sierra Surgery Hospital was recognized for its excellence in surgical care.
Sierra Surgery Hospital is among the top 23 percent of hospitals in the U.S. to earn this distinction. To be recognized as a top performer, a hospital must meet or exceed 95 percent performance thresholds for its performance on all reported core accountability measures, and performances reported to the Joint Commission. Examples of core accountability measures include “preventive antibiotic started 1 hour prior to incision” and “treatment preventing blood clots received.”
In addition to this recognition, Sierra Surgery Hospital has been recognized by Consumer Reports as the number one hospital for surgical care in Nevada and was awarded the HealthInsight 2013 Hospital Quality Award. These honors were given to Sierra Surgery Hospital based on exceptional quality patient outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction.
