Carson City Sheriff's Special Enforcement Team traffic stops lead to drug-related arrests
A 33-year-old Carson City woman and a 44-year-old man were arrested Nov. 6, 5:21 p.m. in the 3500 block of Highway 50 East, They face various misdemeanor drug charges.
Officers with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered Dodge Ram traveling eastbound on Highway 50 East.
The female driver told officers she didn't have a license in her possession and didn't have insurance. Officers read the woman her Miranda rights in which she agreed to speak. She admitted to altering the temporary registration tag. Officer asked consent to search her vehicle with a drug detection canine and the woman agreed. The canine was alerted the the presence of a drug odor in the center console of the vehicle, the arrest report states.
Officers located a suspected methamphetamine pipe with residue, a marijuana pipe with residue, and a small amount of marijuana in the center storage area. A small opened bottle of Jose Cuervo tequila was also found under the driver's seat.
The woman faces six misdemeanor charges, including possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, fictitious registration, no license in possession, open container and no proof of insurance. Bail: $2,832. The man faces misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. Bail: $2,274.
— A 25-year-old Paradise, Calif., man was arrested at 10:35 p.m. Thursday in the area of Long and Fall streets. He faces a gross misdemeanor charge of having a prescription drugs without a prescription and four misdemeanors.
Officers with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team were patrolling the area and noticed a black Dodge Ram stopped in the middle of the roadway west of the intersection of Park and Fall streets.
A man walked up to the driver's side of the car, spoke briefly and left the area. The driver of the truck then drove eastbound on Park Street. The driver turned northbound onto Long Street without signaling and did not stop at the stop sign, the arrest report states. The vehicle was stopped by patrol officers.
The man appeared to be nervous and did not have insurance in his vehicle, the arrest report states. While officers were completing a records check, they requested a drug-detection canine to assist at the scene. Deputies arrived and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle which turned an alert for a drug odor near the driver's side. During the search, officers located the following items in the vehicle:
19 grams of marijuana in a baggie, two grams of marijuana in smaller prescription bottles, 2 Cyclobenzaprine tablets in a bottle without a prescription label, 50 Bupropion tablets in a bottle without a prescription label, five marijuana pipes with residue in them and a pill cutter with white residue, the arrest report states.
The man admitted he sometimes sells the pills to make money. He was arrested and taken to jail. Bail: $4,948.
— A 32-year-old Carson City man faces a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery. He was arrested Thursday, Nov. 7, 3:55 p.m. in the area of Highway 50 East. Bail: $3,137.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 3 p.m. in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East. He faces a misdemeanor charge of being in violation of a suspended sentence. Bail: $3,000.
Those arrested and facing charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
