Carson City Symphony Chorus to begin rehearsals
The Carson City Symphony Chorus, an extension of the select Carson Chamber Singers, will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 7 to 9 p.m., at First Baptist Church, 1750 N. Mountain Street in Carson City.
The Chorus, directed by Michael Langham, is open to all singers, high-school age through adults. They will perform in the Holiday Treat concert with the Symphony on Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Carson City Community Center.
Langham, who also directs the Carson Chamber Singers and is Director of Music and Principal Organist at Trinity Episcopal Church in Reno, said, "The Carson City Symphony Chorus is a choral adventure for people who want to sing with orchestra. It provides an additional opportunity for amateur and volunteer professional vocalists, and high school and church choir members from throughout the area to sing."
The choral program for the Holiday Treat concert includes "Sure on this Shining Night" by Morton Lauridsen, "Lux Aurumque" by Eric Whitacre; the Austrian carol "Still, still, still," and the traditional "The Twelve Days of Christmas."
