Carson City authorities arrest woman on hit and run, DUI and reckless driving charges
A 23-year-old Dana Point, Calif. woman was arrested Halloween night in Carson City and faces misdemeanor charges of hit and run, reckless driving, marijuana possession and driving under the influence after she allegedly hit a pickup and took off at a high rate of speed through a residential area.
Five witnesses report the woman had been driving at a high rate of speed "back and forth" along Ridgefield Drive at around 9 p.m., leaving skid marks in areas where she turned. A parked, unoccupied truck was damaged after the woman reportedly backed into it and then left the scene speeding. One witness stated the driver nearly rolled her vehicle three times.
The woman was arrested and was described in the police report as being "uncooperative" with questions asked by Carson City deputies. The arresting officer stated that he could smell a "moderate" odor of alcohol on her. An inventory search of the woman's vehicle netted two glass marijuana smoking pipes and a clear container containing less than an ounce of marijuana, according to the arrest report.
The woman was taken to jail and was asked to take a Standardized Field Sobriety Test in which the woman refused. A blood draw was taken. Results have not yet been made available.
