Carson City's recent open space acquisitions need naming, citizen input sought
Events come and go but public land, when properly named and designated points highlighted, usually lasts forever.
Two areas of property along the Carson River, acquired by the Carson City Open Space Program, are deserving of names. That's why the city is asking for citizens to chime in with their ideas about what to call them. The property is located near Deer Run Road on the east side of Carson City.
The policies and Procedures, property descriptions, and application can be found on the Parks and Recreation Department’s website here. Residents of Carson City can submit a written proposal, mailed or delivered in person, to the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, Open Space Division, 3303 Butti Way Building 9, Carson City, Nevada 89701.
The application must be received no later than 5:00 P.M. on Nov. 27, 2013. All proposals will be presented for action to the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee at their meeting on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 at 6 p.m. in the Community Center, Sierra Room.
All residents who submit proposals are encouraged to attend and support their interests at this public meeting.
A final recommendation to name the open space properties will ultimately go to the Carson City Board of Supervisors for final approval and adoption.
