Phantom of the Opera at Carson Community Center
The Northern Nevada premiere of Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic tale of forbidden love, will arrive at the Carson City Community Center during weekends in early November, according to the Carson City Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The production will appear Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 4 - 20 at 2 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18-22 and may be purchased by phone or in person at the Performing Arts Office of Western Nevada College, 775-445-4249. Parking is free.
Set in the 1880s features a deformed man - a master magician, technician, musician, who lives beneath the Paris opera house, and who falls in love with a young chorus girl. The original performance became the longest-running musical in Broadway history surpassing Cats in 2006.
The show plays in its full Broadway format with a 19 piece orchestra and includes the timeless numbers “Think of Me,” “Masquerade,” “Music of the Night,” “Primadonna” and “Angel of Music.”
"This is the first time rights have been available in Northern Nevada,” commented Candace Duncan, Executive Director of CCCVB, "It will be, by far, the most sophisticated staging and special effects the Western Nevada Musical Company has produced.” Past productions have included Oklahoma, White Christmas, The King and I and Sound of Music.
