Carson City Manager Larry Werner announces resignation, retirement
Carson City Manager Larry Werner will retire effective Dec. 19, city officials announced Tuesday. Werner has served in the role of city manager since February 2008.
“For me, this has been a wonderful experience and I would not have traded it for anything,” said Werner in a letter to the Carson City Board of Supervisors. “Although I do feel some regret in making this decision at this time, I have no concerns about the management of the City because you have the best staff, department directors and elected officials that I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with.”
Werner, a native Nevadan, is a graduate of Carson High and the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Werner is a registered Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor in the states of Nevada and Washington and a registered Water Rights Surveyor in the State of Nevada. His extensive work background includes Lyon County Public Works Director, State of Nevada Public Health Engineer and the state’s first Water Quality Permits Officer.
He also served as Carson City Public Works Director. In Puyallup, Washington he worked as Public Works Director, Assistant City Manager and Interim City Manager. Werner returned to Carson City in 2000 where he served as City Engineer until his appointment to City Manager in 2008.
