Rain possible overnight followed by midweek warmup and cooler weather Thursday
Low pressure in Central California will lift into the region Saturday night into Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.
The front will likely bring showers and thunderstorms to the region with moderate rainfall. A band of rain is likely to develop along the Interstate 80 corridor from Lake Tahoe to Winnemucca overnight into Sunday morning. How much rain in the Carson City region, if any, is uncertain.
Rainfall totals along the path of the system run up to a half-inch possible for eastern Pershing and Churchill counties this evening. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain or more is possible in the Eastern Sierra and Western Nevada Sierra Front overnight into Sunday morning. Scattered thunderstorms may continue across the region Sunday afternoon that will add to rainfall totals as well.
The forecast calls for a warmup on Monday through Wednesday with gusty winds on Tuesday into Wednesday night before another system moves in, dropping temperatures by about 10 degrees below normal beginning Thursday.
