Lyon County jury convicts man in Mound House felony theft
A three-day trial in Lyon County ended with the conviction of a man accused of stealing property in Mound House and selling it for scrap.
James Vincent Golden, 54, of Reno, was found guilty on Sept. 13 on two counts of grand larceny, a category C felony, and one count of attempted grand larceny, a category D felony, at the Third Judicial District Court in Yerington. Jeremy Reichenberg, Senior Deputy District Attorney, and Orrin Johnson, Deputy District Attorney, prosecuted the case for the Lyon County District Attorney.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Dayton Patrol Division, handled the investigation in the case. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 4 at the District Court in Yerington. Golden faces a maximum possible sentence of 14 years in the Nevada Department of Corrections.
“This defendant enacted a scheme to steal from the victim, and Mr. Golden used other persons to try and hide or shield his involvement in the case," said Reichenberg. "The victim, Sheriff’s Office and witnesses assisted our office in successfully prosecuting this case. I appreciate the jurors’ attention and decision in this matter.”
