Rory Reid’s Labor Day Weekend Stop in Dayton
Democrat Rory Reid's campaign for governor made a stop in Dayton on Saturday at the home of Shirley Lafreniere, a member of the Lyon County Democratic Party.
About 30 of Reid’s supporters attended the event. One of those supporters was Charles Lawson. Charles Lawson is running for Lyon County Commissioner. Reid addressed issues on energy, economic development and education.
Reid is a lawyer, business executive and the chairman of the Clark County Commission. He has managed Clark County’s $6 billion budget for seven years without raising taxes.
Reid’s economic plan includes diversifying our economy and making energy a big part of that, solar, wind and geothermal. Nevada is a position to be the nation’s leader in alternative energy.
“Education is very important to me”, Reid said. “We need people to be educated to work”.
The first thing Reid says he wants to do if he is elected as governor is fund Nevada’s school systems and give the local school district control over their own schools. Reid thinks that strong schools are the foundation of a strong economy. Nevada’s high school drop-out rate is the worst in the nation, 61 percent. Rory wants to change that with his plan he says he can. Nevada needs a leader that will guide us to the future.
