Carson City man jailed on felony domestic battery charge
A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of domestic battery with strangulation after an argument at an Airport Road apartment involving people escalated into a physical confrontation, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Ronald Wayne Mateljan was taken into custody at 3:15 p.m. without incident. According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched at 3 p.m. to the residence and met with two women, and two men, one being Mateljan who was bleeding from the forehead.
Officer spoke with the subjects and learned that an argument had started and escalated between the four, with Mateljan being asked to leave. As the situation became escalated, one of the men left the residence with his three-year-old daughter, the arrest report states.
Mateljan allegedly rushed at one of the females, throwing her onto a bed, and used his hands to hold and squeeze her neck and throat, the arrest report states. The other female came to her aid, and fought him off. He was detained when officers arrived. Bail: $15,000.
In other arrests:
— A 20-year-old Carson City man was booked into jail Tuesday on a misdemeanor warrant charge of petit larceny, issued August 29, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. He was already in jail on another charge when he was served with the warrant.
Those arrested and facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
