Nearly 500 back packs collected in Carson City Salvation Army Drive
The Salvation Army of Carson City is thankful to the community for their generous support of the back to school Apple Tree program. During the drive, 467 back packs as well as school supplies were collected and will be distributed to needy children from Carson City School District, Silver State Charter School, and Douglas County School District.
The Salvation Army had an overwhelming amount of requests from families in need this year and is blessed for the communities support and the partnership with the school districts that has been developed to distribute all the donations through the local schools.
The back pack and school supplies can be picked up by those in need at their local school in Douglas County, Carson City and at Silver State charter school. If it is more convenient please call the McKinney-Vento program at 283-1526 to pick up at their location.
For more information about the Back Pack Drive, please contact Lt. Mark Cyr at (775) 887-9120.
The Salvation Army of Carson City provides Services to Carson City and Douglas County for more than 18,000 people each year helping with school supplies, emergency food, utilities, holiday assistance, Summer Day Camp, Before School Care, and Summer Camp.
