Carson City man faces open and gross lewdness charge
A 27-year-old Carson City man was jailed Monday on a gross misdemeanor charge of open and gross lewdness and domestic battery after allegedly throwing himself on a 16-year-old girl and kissing her, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers responded to the 100 block of Carson Meadows at 8:35 p.m. regarding a dispute inside a home involving two large families having a barbecue. Both families live in the home.
The wife of the man arrested said she found her husband, intoxicated, in the room of the 16-year-old who lives in the home with the other family. The girl told officers the man came into the room and made advances by rubbing her shoulders and then threw her on the bed and began kissing her.
She said it made her very uncomfortable and she asked the man to stop. That is when the man’s wife walked into the room. The wife told officers she had suspected her husband had done it before. The girl told officers the man had indeed done it before and she has been afraid to tell anyone about it. She also told officers she did not want to live in the home anymore.
The suspect was interviewed in which he said he considers the girl a member of the family, that the girl “knows” him and that they were “playing.” He admitted to pushing the girl on the bed but said he was just “looking at her” not kissing her. He was asked if he had ever had other encounters with the girl and he adamantly denied he had ever done this before but later admitted that he sometimes goes into the girl’s room to talk.
The case has been forwarded to the Department of Child and Family Services. Bail: $5,637.
