Motorists can dial 511 for Nevada road updates
With the recent rain and other weather conditions around the Silver State, the Nevada Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that they can receive free, up-to-the-minute state road updates through 511 Nevada Travel Info.
Motorists simply dial 511 or log onto www.nvroads.com before driving for current traffic and road incident, weather and construction reports. Out-of-state callers dial 1-877-NV-ROADS to receive the same service.
Callers select their state route number for automated road conditions, weather forecasts, construction updates, as well as AMBER and other safety alerts when available, for designated section of road.
On the website, a Nevada map zooms into the user’s desired state travel route, with various icons detailing road weather information, road construction, incidents, scheduled road closures and more.
Meanwhile, areas of fog have developed this morning south of Interstate 80. Rain over the last 24 hours, combined with high humidity, has produced large pockets of fog across a large portion of the Sierra and western Nevada, according to the National Weather Service. the fog should burn off by late morning.
Motorists should be prepared for rapid changes in visibility along with slick, wet roads. Affected areas include Interstate 80 and 580, and Highway 395, Highway 50 and 95.
