National Night Out canceled due to weather, Mills Park conditions
UDPATE: The Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform everyone that the 12th Annual National Night Out in Mills Park, set for Tuesday, August 5 at 5 p.m. has been canceled.
It has been determined that with the park's current ground saturation from the rain, the quantity of “heavy” public safety vehicles, aircraft and equipment that was scheduled to be on the grassy area of the park would cause irreparable damage. Further, at this late hour, there is insufficient time to orchestrate a reasonable relocation of the event location.

Carson City's biggest public safety awareness event of the summer is next week and organizers are looking for some added help to make this year's event fly out of the park.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will host National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mills Park.
The purpose of this event is to heighten awareness about crime, drug and violence prevention and has become one of the most highly anticipated law enforcement and public safety events in Carson City. The event is an opportunity for the community to learn ways to prevent or reduce the risk of crime for themselves and property while having fun at the same time.
National Night Out in Carson City is quite an experience and offers something for everyone. Hands on activities, youth services, helicopters, law enforcement and fire safety, then if you get hungry free hot dogs, soda and other refreshments.
National Night Out is paid for by Justice Assistance Grants, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and donations from local businesses.
This year donations are lower than usual due to a variety of circumstances, said organizer Lisa Davis. For anyone interested in making a donation, a check can be dropped off or mailed to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at 911 E. Musser Street, Carson City, NV 89701, attention Lisa Davis.
Checks can be made out to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office with a note that it is for National Night Out. All contributions – money, merchandise, or support services are greatly appreciated. If you have any questions about the event please contact Lisa Davis at 775-283-7809.
