NV150 Fair in Carson City opens with free entry and nonstop entertainment
The NV150Fair will feature over 90 4-H and Future Farmers of America kids from around the region showcasing their animals and farm knowledge. This is to be a full fair with food vendors, commercial vendors, a carnival, auction, live entertainment, a rodeo and more.
The ribbon cutting celebration will take place outside of the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall and will be attended by state and local officials. John Tyson will serve as the master of ceremonies and the colors will be presented by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department.
Carson City’s NV150 Fair is breaking the mold by offering free admittance to the fair opening after the official ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, July 31.
The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. Following speeches by Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell, fairgoers will be treated to Carson City’s first ever fair at Fuji Park and the fairgrounds. There are no admission fees to enter the fairgrounds. This is Carson City’s gift to Nevada as part of the state’s 150th Sesquicentennial celebration.
There will be non-stop free entertainment beginning at noon on Thursday, artist demonstrations, fantasy face painting, fly tying demonstrations, sheep, beef, goat and poultry show along with a dog show. The classic rock band Double Tap will be performing free beginning at 8:30 p.m. on the Park Stage. Go to the bottom of this story for the full fair lineup.
The only paid venues are the Comstock Cowboys performing Friday evening August 1 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand and the Minden Ranch Rodeo Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Tickets for the Comstock Cowboys are $15 per person and the Ranch Rodeo is $6 for those under 12 and $10 per adult.
A full-blown carnival is always the heart of any fair and the NV150Fair will feature a carnival that is sure to delight the kids. The day pass is $25 with a $5 savings if tickets are purchased in advanced at the Carson City Visitors Center, 1900 S. Carson Street.
As with any county fair, there will be plenty of activity, animals, contests, exhibits, food and more food, and knick knacks to purchase. It’s going to be a real fair and city staff and volunteers have been working hard to make this event happen. Fuji Park has received a facelift.
Parking at Fuji Park is limited; however, thanks to the Casino Fandango, parking will be free at the casino with frequent shuttles to the fairgrounds. Bring the entire family to the NV150Fair! It will be a great time for all! For more information of events, dates, times, things to do at the fair, go here. Or see the full lineup below.
